Chancellor Mizuta Noriko Held a Lecture at the 21st Congress of the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations Organized by the Japan Women's Pharmaceutical Association

On November 20 (Monday), Chancellor Noriko Mizuta held a lecture with the theme "The Popularity of Jang Geum and Female International Professionals" at a lecture meeting to promote gender equality projects organized by the Japan Women's Pharmaceutical Association in the Pacifico Yokohama conference center under the theme "How can Women Change Society?". Maybe it was because of the attractive theme that the venue was packed with an audience including members of the Japan Women's Pharmaceutical Association and the congress of the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations, which was held at the same time.

In the first half of the lecture, Ms. Mizuta talked in easily comprehensible and clear words about the history of gender equality, its necessity, issues, and others, saying that it was the men currently working who would face problems if no environment was created for men and women to work on an equal basis, and that gender equality is difficult because of the very difficult issue of "reproducing socially-accepted ideas."

In the second half, she talked about the necessity and internationality of gender equality, with the Korean history TV series "The Vow of Jang Geum", which is very popular throughout Asia, as the subject. The series shows how the heroine extends her work as a dietician, pharmacist and medical doctor at a palace with faith and ambition to improve herself. The lecture was very well received by the listeners of the Japan Women's Pharmaceutical Association – maybe because its contents were very familiar to them, or because many of them had seen the series by themselves.
