Josai International University has formally signed an International Academic Exchange Agreement with Wu Yi University in China. The written agreement was signed in April of this year by Noriko Mizuta, the Chairwoman and Chancellor of Josai International University, and Mr. Hu Sheyun, Chairwoman of Wu Yi University. This formal establishment of academic cooperation ties is the start of broad international study exchange between the two institutions. We can now expect that various international exchange activities will become increasingly lively in the future, including student exchange programs, overseas research programs, academic exchange among faculty, and joint sponsoring of international conferences.

  Wu Yi University is a comprehensive university in Jiangmen City (population: 3.8 million) located on the Pearl River Delta about three hours drive to the southwest from Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province. Jiangmen City is also well-known in mainland China as the origin region of many overseas Chinese merchants. Since its founding in 1985, Wu Yi University has witnessed rapid development and now boasts a total enrollment of 11,000 students with a teaching staff of 800 persons.

  Academic departments include management, information science, textiles and apparel, chemistry, environmental technology, mechanical engineering, physics, Chinese language and literature, foreign languages, political science, law and civil engineering. The major in textiles is particularly famous elsewhere in China. The Graduate School has master’s programs in such fields as information processing, systems engineering, communications and information systems, weaving engineering, business management, applied computer engineering, transportation information engineering, and mechanical design and theory.

  Up to now, Wu Yi University has been pouring energy into international educational exchange with more than 30 sister institutions in other countries. Josai University is the first university in Japan to conclude such a sister-institution connection with Wu Yi University.
