Chancellor Mizuta Meets with Dalian Mayor Xia Deren
During her visit to the city of Dalian on May 20, Chancellor Mizuta met with Mr. Xia Deren, the Mayor of Dalian. Mr. Kiyotaka Ishibashi, a member of the Chiba Prefectural Assembly, accompanied Chancellor Mizuta for that meeting. A report on the meeting was aired on the local evening television news. The meeting featured an exchange of written reports on distribution of goods in Dalian, a subject on which Josai University and Dalian University of Technology have been conducting joint research. Mayor Xia and Mr. Zhang Shikun, who is the chairman of the city’s Development District Management Council, said that they would carefully study the reports and commented on how they would be of use in further endeavors.
Mayor Xia Deren proposed that tie-ups by all means also be developed with institutions other than Dalian University of Technology in order to strengthen ties with Dalian City and said that he would do all in his power to support those efforts. Following this Chancellor Mizuta also met with Li Yongjin, the former mayor of Dalian.
Up to now exchanges between Josai University, Josai International University, and the city of Dalian have been very numerous and various. We expect those exchanges to increase now as the result of this most recent visit to Dalian. The exchanges include the following:

| - | Professor Hiroko Watanabe, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Contemporary Policy Studies of Josai University, delivered a paper at the Davos Forum that was held last summer in Dalian. |
| - | Professor Kazunobu Fukushima and his team from the Faculty of Business Administration have been conducting joint research with Dalian University of Technology thanks to research funds from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in Japan. |
| - | There were visits by Josai University students to industries in Dalian as part of their training. |
