President of Communication University of China Pays Visit to Tokyo Kioicho Campus

A visiting group of five persons from The Communication University of China, headed by President Su Zhi Wu, paid a courtesy visit on Josai University Chancellor Dr. Noriko Mizuta at the Josai/Josai International universities’ Tokyo Kioicho Campus on October 26, 2007.

Located in Beijing, The Communication University of China concluded an agreement last year with Josai University for exchange in the areas of academics, research and education. In September of last year, 19 juniors in a study-abroad program in the Japanese Language Division of the International News Department arrived in Japan for Japanese language and media studies for one year. At the Kamogawa-City Installation Art Festival held this year in July, they deepened educational exchange, acting, for example, as interpreters between students of the Beijing Film Academy and Japanese students of the Media Department. In September 25 Media Department sophomores and juniors in the visited the Communication University of China, helping to forge close ties with that institution’s Media Department. This September as well, 26 juniors from China came to Japan for intense study.

In her address welcoming the President of The Communication University of China, Chancellor Mizuta proposed that China’s younger generation should deepen their understanding of Japanese culture and society in order to ensure continuousin the next generation, particularly in the East Asia cultural sphere and to strengthen exchange in research and education among faculty and students. She also expressed her desire that the two schools collaborate in the future in the fields of mass media and mass communication and promote training of human resources to achieve mutual understanding of their respective culture and society. Following Chancellor Mizuta, Advisor Murai of Josai University Educational Corporation spoke about the role played by university founder Mikio Mizuta in the establishment of friendly relations between China and Japan, and the significance of promoting exchanges between the two institutions in the future. President Su expressed his desire to strengthen cooperative ties between the two schools and to develop similar exchange programs at Nanjing campus of The Communication University of China.

After the Welcoming Ceremony, students of The Communication University of China now studying in the Media Department at Josai University talked with President Su and reported on their lives as foreign students in Japan and about their studies at Josai.
