On December 1-2, Mr. Zhang Wensheng, Principal of Beijing Municipal Yuetan Middle School, and his entourage, who were touring Japan, paid a courtesy visit on Josai International University.

Principal Zhang and his group visited our university campuses, starting with the Chiba Togane Campus, and showed great interest in the facilities and educational content of Josai International University. They also had a friendly exchange with Chancellor Mizuta and the faculty of the university, discussing possibilities for stronger ties between the two institutions.

Yuetan Middle School is a public school that was founded in 1963. It features an educational program that corresponds to middle school and high school in Japan. In 1972, the year when Japan-China diplomatic relations were normalized, in response to a proposal by then Prime Minister Chou En-lai, the school become one of a group of schools in China with emphasis on Japanese language study. Up to now, it remains the only public school in Beijing that has Japanese as a compulsory subject, and is known as an institution that has many exchanges with Japan.
