Josai Visits Malaysia’s University Tunku Abdul Rahman

On July 19, a Josai delegation led by Chancellor Noriko Mizuta visited Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Kampar campus, located 140 km northwest of Kuala Lumpur.

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman is an interdisciplinary college founded in 2002 to spread higher education to the ethnic Chinese community. Despite its relative newness, thanks to the support its received on a national scale, it has already yielded many successful results.

Upon Josai’s visit to Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman in December 2011, the two schools finalized an academic exchange agreement. In April of this year, as part of JIU’s 20th anniversary festivities, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Vice-President Ewe Hong Tat participated in the World University Presidents Forum as a representative of Josai’s ASEAN sister schools.

During this visit, the Josai delegation met with college President Chuah Hean Teik and other top faculty and voiced their support for Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman’s recently opened Japanese language program, while discussing concrete plans for their collaborative project program. Also, with Josai exchange students arriving at UTAR for the first time this September, the group inspected student accommodations and facilities.

After this meeting it is clear that we can expect many more constructive exchanges in the areas of language, culture, and business between Josai and UTAR.
