Josai Visits Universiti Teknologi Mara in Malaysia

On July 20, the visiting Josai delegation led by Chancellor Noriko Mizuta travelled to Malaysia’s Universiti Teknologi Mara, located in the Kuala Lumpur suburb of Shah Alam.

Founded in 1956 as an institution of higher learning for Malaysian nationals, UiTM is the largest university network in Malaysia with 20 campuses, 21 affiliated universities, and 17,000 faculty members.

The delegation met with university Director of Academic Affairs and International Relations Azni Zain Ahmed and other International Relations staff to discuss the possibility of student exchange, a Faculty of Tourism joint double-degree program, collaboration in the field of media studies, and other cooperative activities.

As UiTM is channeling much energy into their Japanese language program—having established a preparatory course for Malaysian students who have completed their secondary education and plan to study abroad in Japan—the delegation pledged the support of JIU’s Japanese language program and discussed the potential for academic exchange in a variety of other fields.

It’s our hope that these talks will result in an academic exchange agreement with UiTM and the beginning of many fruitful collaborations.
