On February 20, 2014, Josai University Educational Corporation Chancellor Noriko Mizuta visited leading private medical school Konyang University where she received an honorary doctoral degree in business administration from university president Hi-Soo Kim in a special award ceremony. Chancellor Mizuta received this award for her outstanding achievements in academics and education as well as her exceptional displays of leadership as a university administrator and significant contributions to academic exchange between Josai and Konyang. As part of the award ceremony, Chancellor Mizuta delivered a lecture on the topic of, “Gender Inequality in a Society with a Declining Birthrate and Aging Population/Cultural Transformation and University Education.”

To this point, Konyang University has signed an academic exchange agreement with Josai International University; however, during this visit, Josai University was added to the agreement, amending it to read “Josai University Educational Corporation.” An agreement with Josai was also made to host exchange students, thereby expanding the scope of their academic exchange.

Konyang University has received much recognition in the fields of medicine and nursing, and also voted the top medical university in southwest Korea in 2004 and 2007 by the Korean Medical Association with the university medical center also regarded as one of the best of its kind. JU President Yasunori Morimoto and Director of the JIU Faculty of Nursing Kanae Iida accompanied Chancellor Mizuta on this visit in which discussions were had regarding programs of exchange in pharmaceutical science and nursing as well as cooperative strategies for the fostering of global professionals.
