Chancellor Mizuta Receives Awards of Appreciation from four Media Companies

Josai University Educational Corporation Chancellor Noriko Mizuta was honored with awards of appreciation from the Saitama Shimbun, Television Saitama, Chiba Nippo and Chiba Television on October 13th, 2015. The four companies expressed their gratitude for the university’s major contributions to the region through its academics and development of human resources.

The city of Sakado in Saitama Prefecture is home to Josai University campus, and Josai International University campuses can be found in such cities as Togane and Kamogawa in Chiba Prefecture. Given this, the Josai University Educational Corporation has hosted joint projects with various local administrations and local media companies to actively expand activities based in the region.

The award ceremony was held as a part of the Josai University Educational Corporation’s 50th Anniversary celebration. The stated reason for the awards was that “a great many citizens in the prefectures have been presented with numerous opportunities and topics through the university’s various international initiatives.” The awards went on to praise the university, saying, “The principles laid down by its founder were to ‘build character through learning’ and to ‘cultivate capable human resources for society.’ This university has made efforts to nurture the type of people who strive for an international community and a Japanese community that embody these ideals.”

Chancellor Mizuta seemed quite affected at the award ceremony, which was held in a hotel within the Tokyo area. She gave her thanks, saying, “I am so moved to be receiving such words of gratitude this year, at such an important turning point for us. A university’s accomplishments can be difficult to see, and they often finally appear only after graduation. So when our efforts receive this kind of acknowledgment from the local media, it’s the greatest encouragement. We will continue to humbly serve these ideals, contributing to local development and cultivating human resources.”
