On April 19, 2017, Josai University Educational Corporation announced the establishment of an Independent Investigation Committee. Two lawyers and two certified public accountants, none of whom were in situations of conflict-of-interest with the Corporation, were appointed to serve on the Committee. The Committee was established in order to investigate the appropriateness of spending practices by the Corporation during the term of former Chancellor Noriko Mizuta.

Responding to the findings of the Committee, Josai University Educational Corporation is determined to make every effort under the leadership of Chancellor Uehara to restore the trust of the public in the Corporation.
The Corporation wishes to take this opportunity to express sincere and heartfelt apologies to all its stakeholders including students, parents, faculty members, alumni, and others for any concern or inconvenience that might have been caused by past practices.
