An honorary doctoral degree award ceremony was held in conjunction with the Josai International University doctoral degree commemorative award ceremony and commencement ceremony on Wednesday, March 17th, 2010, where Chancellor Mizuta Noriko of Josai University Educational Corporation handed the honorary doctoral degree certificate respectively to four awardees, including Ms. Chen Weijia, Director of Department of National Universities, Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of China, Professor Chen Naifang, former President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, Professor Sandra Harding, President of James Cook University, Australia, and Professor Mary Jossy Nakandha Okwakol, Chancellor of Busitema University, Uganda. Moreover, at the Josai International University doctoral degree commemorative award ceremony and entrance ceremony on Friday, April 2nd, 2010, an honorary doctoral degree was awarded to Professor Rose Tseng, Chancellor of the University of Hawaii Hilo.

The above five honorary doctorate degree awardees are members of the World Women University Presidents Forum, where Chancellor Mizuta serves as a director, and have contributed significantly to global higher education and human resources development in their respective universities and regions as a female president. They are also trustful collaborators for the realization of the educational principles of the University.

These achievements were evaluated, and the honorary doctoral degrees were thus awarded. The following are the words of the awardees expressing their joy at receiving the award:

Ms. Chen Weijia, Director of the University Administrative Bureau, Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of China, remarked, “I am honored to be a member of the large family of Josai International University.”; Professor Chen Naifang, former President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, said, “I will continue to make every effort for cooperation in the exchanges between Beijing Foreign Studies University and Josai International University.”; Professor Sandra Harding, President of James Cook University of Australia commented, “I will work hard to live up to the awarded degree.”; Professor Mary Jossy Nakandha Okwakol, Chancellor of Busitema University of Uganda, stated, “I feel humbled by the honor. I am truly honored to receive a degree from such a great university.”; and Professor Rose Tseng, Chancellor of the University of Hawaii Hilo, said, “I am honored to officially become a member of Josai International University by receiving the honorary doctoral degree.”
