Hungarian Embassy Sponsors Welcome Ceremony for Josai, JIU Hungarian Exchange Students

On October 7, 2010 at noon, the Hungarian Embassy held a welcoming ceremony for those Hungarian exchange students who arrived on the Josai Mizuta Noriko Hungary Scholarship.

Hungarian exchange students—five from Josai and twelve from JIU—in addition to Japanese students who have had study abroad experiences in Hungary and students engaged in study of Hungarian were present at the ceremony.

Many embassy officials, including Head Ambassador Bohár Ernő, Deputy Head of Mission Bozsik Béla, and First Secretary Albert János, participated in the event over a spread of Hungarian cuisine. Ambassador Bohár chatted enthusiastically with each student and credited Chancellor MIZUTA’s leadership and understanding for making this lively exchange between students possible, expressing his hope that the study abroad experience would encourage Hungarian students to become a link in fostering continued exchange between Japan and Hungary.

Chancellor MIZUTA then expressed her gratitude to the embassy for creating such a space for students and articulated her desire to promote even more opportunities for exchange between the two countries.

The event was concluded in a lively manner with the presentation of the folk art piece “Kawagoe Festival Floats” to Ambassador Bohár to commemorate the foundation of the Mizuta Hungary Scholarship, followed by a performance of Okinawan folk ballads from 4th year JIU Department of International Exchange student Hairi Tokuyama.
