Josai Visits Budapest Business School

On June 15, the Josai delegation paid a visit to Budapest Business School (BGF). Josai and BGF have already established an academic exchange, hosting exchange students and visiting researchers from each other’s institutions.

Upon arrival, the delegation was greeted by BGF students of Japanese, who performed a reading of Chancelllor Mizuta’s poem “Summer in Santa Barbara” from memory. After much consultation with Professors Sato Noriko and Székács Anna, the students opted to wear all black to reflect the melancholy tone of the piece. The students apparently devoted much time and energy preparing for the performance, considering many different methods of reading. The members of the delegation were deeply moved by the students’ warm and heartfelt reading.

A meeting to discuss the future of the Josai-BGF joint program and the continuing exchange program the performance. It was noted that, as Josai offers many courses in English at both the college and graduate level, the university is well equipped to host students from a variety of fields and levels.

The day concluded in a lively fashion with a dinner party hosted by BGF President Eva Sandor-Kriszt, allowing the attendees to share ideas about the academic exchange at their leisure.
