The aim of this conference is to enhance research activities in the humanities and social fields and to further research, by providing an opportunity for next generation researches responsible for a new era in both Japan and Korea to present their research and to interact with other researchers.
At the international academic conference, which is scheduled to be held once a year, next generation researchers from both Japan and Korea will share the floor and give presentations on their academic interests and research themes, and through discussion, researchers are expected to deepen their understanding of the state of each other’s research and expand their horizons.

There are three types of application forms: (1) participant's application form, (2) presenter's application form, (3) presentation outline (outline of approximately 2000 characters, plus a 400 character explanation of the significance of the research, and a 400 character self assessment). Presenters should submit all three forms, whilst panelists, general participants and tutors leading groups of participants need only submit form (1). (Applicants in Japan should submit Japanese versions of the forms and applicants in Korea should submit Korean versions of the forms.)
Applications may be made over the internet or by fax. Internet applications should be made using forms available at the following site (available on the website).
Applications made in Japan must be submitted by April 27 (Friday) and applications made in Korea must be submitted by April 13 (Friday).
After applications from potential presenters have been received, applications shall be put before an external committee and final presenters shall be selected taking into account the number of participants for each presentation topic. Panelists and general participants shall be selected taking into account the number of participants for each presentation topic.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application after the selection of presenters and panelists by May 11 (Friday) in Japan and April 27 (Friday) in Korea.

Depending on the events you intend to participate in, the following fees a) and b) should be paid at the registration desk on the day of the conference.
a) Academic Conference: 3,000 JPY (which includes preliminary reports, day of conference lunch, and reception.)
b) Field Trip: 7,500 JPY (which includes bus, admission fees, lunch and dinner.) (Refer to 9. Participant Support)

The organizers are currently planning a field trip. Details are expected to be posted on the website in early April.
Participants from Korea
Depending on the events you intend to participate in, the following fees a), b) and c) should be paid.
a) Airfare, Accommodation Package (4 days 1 night: June 22nd to 25th)
The package fee shall include flight to and from Japan, bus fare from the airport to the hotel and vice-versa, and hotel accommodation (2 person room, with breakfast).
Departure from Incheon: 640,000 Won
Departure from Busan: 640,000 Won

b) Field Trip: 60,000 Won (which includes bus, admission fees, lunch and dinner.)
Field Trip Course
The organizers are currently arranging facilities that enable participants to experience “East Asian Cultural Exchange” in the field. Details are expected to be posted on the website in early April.

c) Academic Conference: 3,000 JPY (which includes preliminary reports, day of conference lunch, and the cost of the reception.)

Preliminary Reports
Those selected as presenters should submit a copy of their papers by email to the Japan Center Office, Dongseo University and such copies shall be included in a preliminary report. (Scripts must be sent by May 25th (Friday) in the case of participants from Japan and by May 11th (Friday) in the case of participants from Korea.)
Papers should be in either Japanese or Korean and should be prepared in accordance with the following formats. (The organizers will translate the papers and compile a preliminary report in both Japanese and Korean.)
Japanese Scripts
1. Papers should be prepared using MS-Word.
2. Papers should be 3 or 4 pages of A4 prepared using the initial MS-Word screen (40 characters, 38 lines).
3. Papers should be prepared using MS Mincho font and the main text should be font size 10.5 points, titles should be 14 points, and citations, examples, and references should be 9 points.
* Use furigana with proper nouns such as geographical names and the names of people. (Required for translation into Korean)
Korean Scripts
1. Papers should be prepared using Araea Hangul.
2. Papers should be 3 or 4 pages of A4 prepared using the initial Araea Hangul screen (41 characters, 41 lines).
3. Papers should prepared using Shin Mincho font and the main text should be font size 10 points, titles should be 14 points, and citations, examples, and references should be 9 points.
* Include the Chinese characters for proper nouns such as geographical names and the names of people in brackets after the noun. (Required for translation into Japanese)
Publication of the papers
The organizers intend to publish a compilation of the papers in March 2008. Presenters at the conference who wish to have their papers included in the compilation should submit their script (10–20 pages of B5 sized paper) by September 30. (The organizers will contact presenters with more details at a later date)
(Request to tutors)
* The organizers will bear the cost of the conference (3000 JPY) for tutors who lead groups of participants. However, tutors shall be responsible themselves for any other expenses incurred in relation to participation at the conference. We hope that tutors will understand that, as far as possible, we would like subsidies for the conference to go towards the nurturing of young researchers.
Please note that it is possible for the organizers to arrange accommodation for Japanese tutor leaders, and flights and accommodation for Korean tutors, at a discounted price. Those interested should contact the organizers and include the necessary information on their application form.
